The Gay Cycling
Training Camp
Mallorca 2008
|
The Gay Cycling Training Camp is aimed at the Gay cyclist who enjoys the type of ride we organize in the group. The term Training Camp is not being used to imply extreme activity. It is being used in a broad context for a non-competitive cycling event that is more focused on the cycling than might be expected on just a cycling holiday. The wish is for participants to join in group rides during the week and to develop their cycling to a level they are happy with. It is not about making boy racers of us all but to get the body going after the winter ready for the summer and maybe try some cycle terrain that we would not get at home. Get away from the cold and wet and cycle in warm sunshine. Take advantage of Spain's Mediterranean sunshine in the Spring to start your cycling season early. Mallorca is an island made for the cyclist. With the central plain of rolling countryside and mountain ranges with passes to make the spirit fly. The choice is yours. Stay in a Gay, Cyclist friendly small hotel with a good standard of facility for you comfort. Bike hire arrangements are in place and a bike can be booked for you. This will be for the whole week and will be delivered to the hotel. You may bring your own bike if you prefer. A week of planned group rides to different parts of the island from the coastal routes to the mountain routes. Join in for as much as you want, or relay and be independent. You can take a day off to explore Palma or relax in the sun. There are no formal ride leaders details of routes and maps will be available but in the spirit of the group volunteers will be welcome to lead on the day. If numbers permit we will split into multply cycling programmes. There will some common rides but it will enable the more energetic rides to have longer rides and makes more use of the mountains, where the recreational riders can have shorter rides and keep more to the central plain and the coastal area. For the evenings Palma has a wide selection of restaurants. Then with the saunas, bars and discos there is enough to keep you busy to bedtime. |
